Helping You Build A Stronger Community

Welcome!

Sanibel Sea School

In 2000, a group of concerned island residents organized as the Community Foundation of Sanibel-Captiva. The name was changed in 2008 to reflect the community foundation’s primary focus and to raise awareness among island residents and visitors of the variety of community needs that existed. The community foundation today is known as the Good Neighbor Community Foundation of Sanibel-Captiva (GNCFSC) and is a division of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation.

GNCFSC is known primarily for the work it accomplishs through its Good Neighbor Fund, a fund set aside to help islanders with small, urgent, one-time needs. It is hoped that, through enhanced awareness, both permanent and part-time residents, as well as visitors, will choose to help their island neighbors who are in need throguh this fund.

GNCFSC has distributed over $3 million in grants and scholarships since its inception and strives to promote philanthropy and a spirit of community to enhance the quality of life for residents and employees of the islands, now and for generations to come, through the stewardship of permanently endowed funds.
